There is a trend of people being sacked (dismissed on the spot) from their jobs without a warning or with one, after less than 6 months of being recruited. Where is the problem?
First, employers know the market is flooded with potential employees. They can let you go anytime they feel and get someone else tomorrow. If they woke up on the wrong side of the bed on Monday morning, you feel it when they walk into the office and everyone is walking on eggshells.
The tea girl and the driver will receive all the tongue lashing (and some are very verbally abusive) and maybe someone will have to go, probably the one who hasn't achieved their target.
Second, poor onboarding. You recruit someone and you do not take them through training, you just issue them with a workstation, you do not take them under your wing for a period of time, even mother birds do, they just don't throw the chicks out of the nest and expect them to fly.
You also do not familiarize them with the do's, and dont's of the Company. Should I mention office politics- ''don't enter the same lift with the CEO and do not say a greeting to him/her unless he/she does.''

The fact that I have excelled as a Finance or HR Manager in one Company does not mean I will excel in the next.
Third, you as an employer want the ''perfect employee'' to reach the targets that others or you as a person have failed to achieve. You want a change agent, one can only fit that description after a minimum of 2 years of working in a new environment.
You are the Manager should be the change agent and not the new employee. It starts with you! There are trainings you can attend to upskill you in this area. If you need any suggestions get in touch with me.

3 年The third point was in "verbatim" what was said to me as part of assimilation process. Month 7 and dismissal came uninvited at a review meeting. Was given a resignation option which I took NEVER to look back. To the HR fraternity, Bernadette Karanja Et al. The work place has become Toxic. Don't burry your heads in the Sand call BS for what it is. The racial angle has become prevalent let's open our eyes.
