The New Trend in Grant Applications: Limited Submissions

Hey there, fellow creators and entrepreneurs!

I recently reviewed several grant applications and stumbled upon something quite intriguing that is worth sharing.

For those new here, welcome.

I’m Danielle Corbett, the creator of the Grants For Creators newsletter. I’m a former grants administrator turned 4x grant-funded travel creator with nearly ten years of experience in the game.

In this corner of the internet, I share funding opportunities and awards for U.S.-based creators and small business owners.

The Grant Application Trend

While reviewing a few applications over the last few weeks, I noticed a trend that could significantly impact your chances of securing funding.

Some grantors (a fancy word for funding organizations) are now limiting the number of applications they accept.

For instance, one application capped responses at 100, while another had a limit of 75.

In these cases, the submission process is closed once these numbers are reached, regardless of the “official deadline.”

Okay, but what does this mean?

This means that despite a set deadline, you could potentially miss your chance to submit if the maximum number of entries has already been reached.

Why This Matters

Now more than ever, it’s important to act quickly when you come across an interesting grant opportunity.

While this doesn’t apply to all grants, there’s a potential to get shut out. So, I want everyone to be aware.

Hmmmm…. yet another reason our Grant Application Planner comes in handy.

As you plan for grant applications, you can note the deadline and any applicant caps and proceed accordingly.

As grant opportunities evolve, staying informed about these changes is essential. I promise to keep you informed about trends I’m seeing and any other tidbits of information you might find helpful.

Nevertheless, I encourage you to look for these stipulations and use this intel to be proactive in your approach.

Good luck with your applications!

Best,

Interesting! Are you seeing this as part of private foundations mostly or just a certain set of funders? Thanks!

Wow, I had no idea caps were being widely instituted by grantors. This is game changing information.
