New tool to measure the performance of the Irish health system
The Department of Health (DoH) has introduced a new tool to measure the performance of the Irish health system. It was published in their annual Key Trends report.
The tool is called the Health System Performance Assessment (HPSA) tool and according to the DoH, this tool
"covers not only the traditional metrics of resources and workforce invested within the health sector of the country, but also focuses on; the equity and level of access to health services, affordability, the quality of the care provided, the efficiency of the health services, information systems in place for better coordination and the level of continuity of the health services"
The HPSA tool will be formally launched in Q1 2023 and we at Salutem Insights will be monitoring developments closely, particularly in relation to access to health services.
