New Theory: 2023 Year in Review

New Theory: 2023 Year in Review

As we close the books on our 13th year in business and prepare for 2024, it's time to reflect on the significant milestones and achievements at New Theory in 2023. This year was marked by the addition of new faces, new clients, exciting launches for popular brands, and exploring new tech platforms.

Welcoming New Clients

In 2023, we were delighted to onboard several new clients. We are thrilled to work with them and grow our experience in healthcare, city government, and e-commerce.?

Our collaboration with Pyramid Communications has provided us the opportunity to serve two esteemed healthcare clients, the Mat-Su Health Foundation and Kaiser Permanente's PHM Initiative. It's an honor to support these significant projects aimed at enhancing public health and we look forward to making valuable contributions to their success.

On another exciting note, we are working with Bailey Pottery, a wonderful family-owned business. Since 1976 they have built a loyal fan base with their unique pottery equipment designed and manufactured in-house and extensive selection of supplies. We have enjoyed getting to know their business more closely as we support online sales.??

We began our journey with assisting the City of Englewood, Colorado on South Platte Renew. We have enjoyed working alongside a city that is investing in accessibility and communications.?

New Theory is based in Seattle, and we are pleased to share the addition of several Pacific Northwest (PNW) based clients to our roster. We understand the importance of community and are honored to extend our services to these local businesses.

Made In Washington, a popular Pacific Northwest retail brand known for its unique offerings, is an excellent place for Christmas shopping. If you ever find yourself at their Sea-Tac Airport location, we recommend the smoked salmon. It’s delicious. We have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating on the development of their "build a box" feature and are looking forward to supporting their upcoming marketing initiatives.

We raised our glasses to Taphandles, a returning client and industry leader for custom beverage taps.?

Bumbershoot, an annual music and arts festival hosted in Seattle, is another esteemed addition to our client list. As one of North America's largest festivals, held every Labor Day weekend at the expansive Seattle Center, it has been a pleasure to be involved in such a vibrant cultural event.

We have also begun working closely with Vashon Be Prepared, a key member of the island community's Covid response. Supporting local communities, especially during these challenging times, is something we take great pride in.

Through our partnership with agency Rupert, we are proud to support the University of Washington's Recovery IV Program websites. This collaboration gives us another opportunity to contribute to the university's important work.

Work Highlights

Throughout the year, we have had the pleasure of working with many of our clients on new, exciting projects, from website redesigns to platform integrations.?

One of our most memorable projects this year included designing and coding the new Bastion Law website. Every element, from its aesthetic design, animations, and functionality, was carefully crafted to reflect Bastion Law's commitment to professionalism and excellence.?

We had a rockin' experience collaborating with Bumbershoot, the iconic Seattle music festival. While designing this year's festival schedule, we explored using the headless CMS technologies of DatoCMS and Gatsby. After the project was completed, the New Theory team was thrilled to go backstage during the festival.

The good times continued in our multi-year partnership with pub-quiz leaders Geeks Who Drink. 2023 marked the second occasion of assisting their rebranding efforts and the launch of their Questionist blog.

Some say space is the final frontier. For Telescopes.net, merging 3 busy e-commerce sites into one was the true adventure this year. During this project, we focused on reducing technical debt and streamlining the website management process for their admins. This made it possible for them to save hours, allow users to share logins, move freely throughout the website, and open doors to new sales opportunities.

Daphne's Headcovers took New Theory to the greens this year for 18 holes of e-commerce. Their custom golf headcovers are used by international figures like Tiger Woods. It was a gratifying experience to see that our efforts contributed to a significant increase in their online sales. We are humbled by the opportunity to play a part in the growth of such a dynamic company.

The New Theory team also had the privilege of collaborating with The Lumiere Group. This unique opportunity allowed us to work closely with the talented creative director, Gabriel Stromberg. We worked together to bring his designs to life on a polished website created for a company with high-end clientele.?

Our work with Miro Tea allowed us to brew up tasty results this year. We successfully migrated their website from WordPress to Shopify, a move aimed at retaining their lovely, Civilization-designed appearance, while benefiting from the functionality Shopify offers.?

We embarked on another leg of our journey with Mitch-Stuart, a company known for its unique travel experiences and charity auction services. Having previously redesigned their front-facing website, we were entrusted with the task of rethinking their user experience for their internal, travel-booking product.

Organic farming and feed industry-leader New Country Organics had an array of projects sprouting this year. This year’s work included their Less Than Truckload (LTL) system, auto-shipping/subscription support, and Magento upgrades.

The New Theory team also worked with Raastr this year, a B2B sales and consulting company. We helped them extend their brand identity through their website to create a cohesive presence that resonated with their audience.

Vaxcyte, a publicly-traded biotechnology company, kept us busy this year. It’s been gratifying to support their important work as they have moved from startup to post-IPO to preparing to bring their first products to market. We partnered with Waterhouse Brands to improve Vaxcyte’s hiring process with aesthetic improvements and an integration with Lever.co, a leading recruitment platform.?

Growing the team

In 2023, the New Theory team grew with three key additions. Anthony Ruffin joined our team as a Developer in April. Brittanie Pervier, our new Marketing Specialist, joined our team in September. Christina Chacheron is our newest Project Manager, who joined the team in early December. These additions have spread our distributed company’s staff across 5 timezones, from New York and Florida in the East to Alaska in the West, with team members in every timezone between. All-hands meetings routinely begin with, “Good morning AND good afternoon, everyone!”

Wrapping Up

Looking back at 2023, we're proud of what we've achieved. We've welcomed new clients, launched exciting projects, and continued to deliver results that exceed expectations. With several large builds, a growing team, and an expanding roster of clients, we look forward to an exciting 2024, we're excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and are committed to continuing to provide our clients with exceptional service.?

So happy to work with you! :)
