As you already know, the CES event in Las Vegas brings together a lot of companies and people around new technologies and developments. In this 2024 edition, AI has been the main protagonist.
The importance of the CES for the world of technology lies in the fact that recognized companies showcase their newest inventions or launches, and this is exciting since people can see first hand products that will be launched in the market in the next months or years.
For instance, Google unveiled a cutting-edge feature designed for electric vehicle (EV) users. The innovation facilitates live monitoring and presentation of battery details directly on Google Maps. Of course, this will work in EVs that have compatibility with Android auto. This will also allow the user to project navigation, media, and messaging features from the Android device onto the vehicle's display.
The integration of Android Auto and Google Maps will be a great ally for creating a better experience for EV drivers.
One technology that brought our attention was a special mask made by Skyted. This is the world’s first silent mask, which will allow users to speak with confidence in any public space without worrying about other people listening to them.
This new technology is also helpful for remote workers that usually go to cafeterias or coworking spaces and need to constantly speak on the phone or through video calls.
Samsung also shocked the attendees by showcasing Ballie, a Robot with AI features that can assist homeowners at almost any task.?
There was a prototype of this product shown in 2020, but this time, Samsung revealed the robot in an upgraded version and showed how it works.
The robot can communicate with the user through text messages to keep him updated on the house status. Also, it can activate or deactivate lights, sensors, or any other smart device that is compatible. Ballie also serves as a video projector that will allow users to watch movies, attend video calls, and even workout while the robot projects the video on the walls and even on the ceiling.
LG also presented their own version of a robot that works as a home assistant.

This device, linked through the LG smart home platform ThinQ, autonomously handles various appliances like washers, ovens, and refrigerators. Leveraging machine learning, it adapts to family dynamics and device usage patterns, incorporating voice and facial analysis.?
Sony Honda Mobility’s president presented the prototype of their new EV vehicle called AFEELA. The cool part of the event was that the car was driven for a few meters by using a PS5 game controller.
According to the website of AFEELA , this EV represents the future of mobility: with highly advanced sensing technology and AI. The possibilities of expanding mobility even further will be greater than ever before.

Another protagonist of the event is transparent displays. LG embraced OLED technology for its transparent display, while Samsung chose to employ Micro LED. The LG model will be released later this year, contrasting with Samsung, which presented its transparent display as a conceptual preview without a confirmed timeline for market availability.
Would you like some coffee? Meet Adam, the new barista robot that was presented in CES 2024. It was built by Richtech Robotics, and it’s a robot that can prepare any kind of coffee, including cold drinks. Its price may be around 180 thousand dollars.
Adam has two robotics arms, it has facial recognition capabilities and it counts on AI to operate and prepare coffee with ease.
And last but not least, a chinese EV maker called Xpeng entered the market with a new “flying car”. They expect to deliver the first batch by the fourth quarter of 2025, and they are already taking pre-orders.
Of course, there are regulations that need to be met before expanding the sales internationally, since there are laws that need to be addressed, but the company is working hard to get the proper approvals and start selling it in China.
There are more amazing technologies that were shown in CES 2024 that we wouldn’t be able to cover here. But one thing is for sure, AI is the main protagonist of this year, and there are new ways of integrating this technology into devices that can communicate with others, that is, the Internet of Things.
What would come next? Only time will tell.
