A NEW TAX NEEDS TO BE INTRODUCED, AS WHAT WE PAY IS NOT ENOUGH.

No, I am serious, let me explain to you.
It was only today, on the first of December that I woke up to rainfall on my window pane in the city of Pune which made me think if we can separate innovation from its impact on taxation and climate.
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world but today I am wise so I am changing myself”. I wonder, are we moving towards the third panel from the painting ‘the garden of earthly delights’ where Bosch talks about the end of planet Earth. The second segment is called as “humankind before flood” where one can see the industrial revolution and in the third segment we can see the sky is no more limpid but covered in smoke/darkness as the earth collapses in timber and debris. I credit, we are moving towards a disaster and its time WE bring the change, no more Paris agreements/conferences/talks, it’s time for change. Let’s do our bit: the revolution cannot be stopped and shouldn’t however we should not forget that 30 feet of ice has melted in Antarctica, developing cities are being choked in industrial pollution, densely populated cities are shutting schools due to pollution, Palau islands are sinking due to rise in sea water level, Indonesian forest are being wiped out to produce palm oil which maximises profits.
The tax we need:
I feel we need to impose carbon taxes as they do not exist, no I am not a lunatic demanding another tax, but the basic math is: imposing carbon taxes will decrease payroll taxes as majority of these payroll taxes are going towards improving the quality of life by building new infrastructure / new equipments to manage climate change / dams etc which won’t be damaged in the first place if climate change is controlled.

So, if we want, we can move towards a more sustainable future by reducing our dependency on fossil fuels, imply basics like switching off the fan/light when not in use and stop the “garden of earthly delights moving to its final stage”

3 年Ashish Mehta principally I agree with you. However, this is destined to happen with time. Should kids burst crackers? Yes, according to me. Because as a kid I used to be excited to burst crackers, but my father never supported. So that part of my kid life was incomplete. My son did it when he was a kid, but not any more, because he is outgrown that. Net-net Conscience and awareness drives the right and wrong. So let’s hope that the grown ups deal with the calamities of future from Today.
