New Tariffs Prices Budget in 2024

The federal government in its new budget has increased electricity prices to record highs. Even though Pakistan is producing one of the cheapest electricity in the region. In order to curb the deficit and to further improve on its tax revenue the new proposed prices are meant to control the incurring costs. These tariffs are effective from the 1st of July 2024, the government has proposed the following tariffs on the consumers.??

In case of the residential:

In case of Agricultural:

It is to be noted that the government is also adding a PKR 440 Billion relief for the consumers that do not have a large spike in their residential consumption and a PKR 150 billion package for the industrial sector to promote domestic growth. Moreover, the increase in the consumption is cost is fundamentally to cover 75% of the fixed costs that the power sector.
