The new T-Class
It is a very special moment for me as strategic project leader to officially share this news with you.
It was announced back in August last year: a successor to the commercial Citan, including a fully electric variant. In addition, there are now even more news to announce. Based on the small van platform, a new vehicle has been developed that, unlike the Citan, is aimed at private customers. This orientation is also reflected in the name: Mercedes-Benz T-Class.
While the Mercedes-Benz Citan is still designed for commercial use, the Mercedes-Benz T-Class is aimed at private customers in particular. Even if the Citan has always been my and my team's baby, it hasn't always been praised in the past. But we see this professionally – and what's more, we have listened. The result is a completely new development in the form of the T-Class. It will be easily recognizable as a Mercedes-Benz at first glance, and have the unmistakable, typical characteristics of the brand and its DNA. The same applies when it comes to design, value, safety and connectivity. In today's world, I'm happy to say that just like the Citan, the T-Class has been developed togehter with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi cooperation network.
The T-Class is spacious and has many potential uses – all this paired with a high level of comfort. And you have probably already guessed it: following our announcement on the Citan successor as a fully electric variant, the T-Class will also be available as a fully electric variant in addition to the conventional drive system.
Stay t-uned!
