New Sutter Health-CPMC hospitals 40% complete
Amazing progress is being made in the construction of Sutter Health’s two new hospitals at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. Construction is at about 40 percent complete and both hospitals are on schedule to open in early 2019. Check out the progress in the SF Business Times article at bit.ly/21UciIP.
With the steel structures complete and a first-of-its-kind earthquake technology in place, the exterior panels are now being placed at the Van Ness and Geary project, where the revitalization of the neighborhood is unfolding before us week by week. With the glass and steel panels going up on the exterior of the hospital, there is a feel of renewal in the area.
At the St. Luke's Campus, the exterior wall panels are nearly all in place, resulting in a great new look for the campus and neighborhood. With the intentional use of different materials on the exterior, along with the color pallet, the effort is to help the building fit more with the aesthetics of the neighborhood.
Following the installation of the exterior panels there may not appear to be much happening at the construction sites. Rest assured there is a great amount of activity underway behind those walls. Large boilers, cooling towers and generators have been installed in the central utility plants on the top floors of both hospitals. Rooms are being built out, electrical and plumbing lines are being installed, duct work for heating and air conditioning is being put into place.
There is much work yet to be completed before we put the finishing touches on and open the doors. Keep up with the progress at CPMC2020.org. There you will find the construction schedules, update bulletins and the ever popular construction cameras. Check it out!
