New Starter Interview- Emma Pettifer

Welcome to the Precise Consultants team Emma, it’s been great to have you onboard! We feel, in the office, that we know you by now, but there are plenty of people out there who won’t yet.

First off, tell us a little bit about yourself, who is Emma outside of the office?

Hi, I’m the other Emma! The team are still working out a nickname for me. When I’m not working, I love to cook & travel. My dog, Derek, also gets me out walking and playing.

What does your professional background look like in finance?

I trained in a top 10 International Accounting Firm based in London whilst completing my ACCA studies- Working with clients in industries ranging from shipping to jewellery design to app development. I then moved industry side, first to a US tech reseller and then on to a multinational Service Design Agency. ?

Could you sum up your role in Precise Consultants?

My role is to improve processes and efficiencies whilst developing individuals in the finance team into well-rounded finance professionals. Ultimately keeping the team happy, clients happy and freelancers happy and making sure finance is running smoothly.

What attracted you to join Precise Consultants?

Initially, Pete and Adam’s passion for the business and the industry was evident. There’s so much potential and lots to learn. I could see where my expertise and experience could have a positive impact. And when I met the whole team, I knew it was a good decision.

Starting a new role can be challenging. How have you found our company culture, have you felt supported?

I’ve loved learning about the industry and the role Precise Consultants play within it. I wanted to understand the finance team and their work from top to bottom, so I got stuck in to expenses and invoicing from day one and worked my way through everything in the first few months. Everyone has been very patient in answering all my weird and wonderful questions.

Is there an area of your role which you particularly enjoy or find particularly satisfying?

I really enjoy being able to work with different people from different departments, client businesses and external partners. Everyone is incredibly generous sharing their advice and experiences.?

Looking ahead, what is your vision for the finance department within the next year?

Prepare for the summer! We have a new team member joining in March to increase our capacity and we’re reviewing and improving processes to ensure we’re running a tight ship and support the business, our clients & freelancers to offer the best service.

What do you think the future holds for Precise Consultants?

Opening the Singapore office last year was an exciting step for us, and it’s going from strength to strength …. where could the next office be?

Is there anything else you would like to share with our clients and contractors as they get to know you in your new role as Finance Director?

My maiden name is Chatt, and I have always been known as “chatt by name, chat by nature”, I love to get to know and have a chat with people so give me a call or come and have a coffee!
