The New Special Issue "The Thermodynamic and Kinetic Equilibria of Complex Systems" is Open for Submission!

Special Issue Information:

Since the end of the 19th century, entropy, a function state that relates to the order of a system, has expanded much further than heat and work exchanges, non-exhaustively covering statistical physics, chemistry, information theory, biology, economics and sociology.

The description of systems pertains to studying the evolution of state function?X?in a static way, according to the initial and final states. One fundamental nature of this description is that state function?X?does not depend on the kinetics to switch from the initial to the final state and vice versa. Thermodynamics is perfectly adapted to describe systems of low complexity?(i.e., ideals) but fails to describe systems of high complexity (i.e.,?reals). Empiric adjustment parameters that escape rigor are introduced in the entropy of thermodynamic equations in order to describe these complex systems.

Two scientific questions are addressed in this Special Issue. The first question is as follows:

"Is it possible to predict equilibria using their dynamic evolution?"

The second one is as follows:

"Is it possible to predict the equilibria of complex systems?minimizing empirical parameters?"

We invite you to present thermodynamic or/and kinetic (i.e., time-dependent) models of complex system (i.e., non-ideals) equilibria without any thematic restriction, covering social sciences, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc.?

We will organize from September 2024 to September 2025 visioconference roundtables with all contributors in order to debate this subject and collectively write an article on these questions.?
