New Sleep Routine
My bedtime is rapidly approaching and sleep is the one thing I no longer fuck with so I'm going to bed.
And I'm excited to test out a new routine.
Every night, I set my alarm for 15 minutes and read - typically before writing this journal because it often helps inspire me. I'm currently reading The Power of Awarness by Neville Goddard and in it, Neville recommends a sleep routine:
To aid in mastering the control of your attention practice this exercise. Night after night, just before you drift off to sleep, strive to hold your attention on the activities of the day in reverse order. Focus your attention on the activities of the day in reverse order. Focus your attention on the last thing you did, that is, getting in to bed and then move it backward in time over the events until you reach the first event of the day, getting out of bed.
I was immediately intrigued by this for 2 reasons:
My original intention was to practice visualization work - imagining my goals as achieved and living in those moments, experiencing those thoughts and feelings in the present moment. But I'm afraid I've lacked discipline in this exercise the longer I've been doing it.
I choose to visualize different things every night, there is no consistency. I often like to experiment with different ideas. But I don't know that any of it is working as well as it should. Or rather, I need to be more focused during this exercise : )

3 个月I read until I feel myself drifting away. I don't read anything serious - nothing I really need to pay attention to, so a novel instead of a self-help book. Once I start drifting, it's book away, lights out, and sweet, sweet slumber
