A New Shop for Leicester Animal Aid
Barrie Stephen
Salon owner | Entrepreneur | Ambassador for Leicester Animal Aid | Patron of Sir Thomas White Loan Charity
A local award-winning businessman has opened a new charity shop which will raise money for a dog and cat rescue and re-homing centre.
Barrie Stephen, who is Leicester Animal Aid’s Charity Ambassador, was ably assisted by Gaga the Chihuahua as he cut the ribbon and declared the shop officially open.
To help the Charity celebrate, shoppers were treated to bubbly, celebration cake, 20% off everything all day, a free prize draw and the opportunity to have their hair styled by a stylist from Barrie Stephen Hair.
The shop, which is on Blaby Road, South Wigston, is Leicester Animal’s Aid first foray into the high street and hopes to attract passing customers, destination shoppers and anyone who is looking for a bargain, a warm welcome and the chance to help rescue cats and dogs.
Like LAA’s on-site charity shop in Huncote, the new shop will stock clothes, children’s toys, books, handbags, designer clothes, dog treats, shoes and clothes. All proceeds will go the charity. Barrie said: As a child I used to visit the Centre with my Mum, so Leicester Animal Aid has always had a special place in my heart. It’s an incredible organisation and I have huge admiration for all the staff and volunteers.
“As a businessman, and member of the community, I felt it was my duty to help to make a difference. It was an honour and pleasure to be asked to open the new shop, which I’m sure will be a great success.”
The shop is open from Tuesday to Friday 10 am -4pm. On Saturdays, it will be open 10 am – 3pm. The precise location is 50D Blaby Road, South Wigston.
