The New Series of Photoelectric Sensors from IDEC
The modern world depends on easy detection.?The smart factory is home to many machines, from fast moving production lines to the use of autonomous robots that roam the factory floor. ?It is vital that objects are detected rapidly and accurately to ensure that the manufacturing process is running smoothly.?Beyond the manufacturing industry, there are innumerable applications where it is important to provide easy and quick detection of objects, from customers in doorways to cars in parking lots.
?
The photoelectric sensor offers a contactless detection system that can identify objects and distances with great precision. Small and easy to install, the photoelectric sensor transmits a pulse or beam of light and then detects its reflection. By calculating the delay, a very precise measurement of distance can be made.

These sensors are available in a number of variants. The retro-reflective mode incorporates both an emitter and a detector in the same unit to allow for easy installation. Light is transmitted by laser or LED in either a precise beam to provide superior accuracy, or a diffuse beam to function as a proximity sensor, able to detect objects over a wide area. In contrast, the through-beam mode uses separate transmitter and receiver units which function over a longer range of up to 30m.?In this mode, an object is detected whenever the beam is broken.

The SA1E series uses laser light sources, while the SA2E uses red-light LED.?These photoelectric sensors from IDEC are designed to deliver precise optical measurement for a wide range of applications in the world of industry and beyond. Available in both through beam and retro-reflective versions, the SA1E and SA2E series delivers high precision measurement and response times as low as 0.25 milliseconds (ms).?Sealed to IP67 and compact in size, they can be installed in the harsh environment of the factory floor.
