OpenAI release his Search engine

OpenAI now investing in SearchGPT a prototype in the testing phase, which will (somehow) compete against Google's Search Generative Experience and the new Perplexity.

So what is SearchGPT?

• SearchGPT will quickly and directly respond to your questions with up-to-date information from the web while giving you clear links to relevant sources.
• The product is similar to Perplexity, where you “search in a more natural, intuitive way” and ask follow-up questions “just like you would in a conversation.”

The company said it eventually plans to integrate the tool, which is currently being tested with a small group of users, into its ChatGPT chatbot.

The buzz around that:

Industry leaders are saying that pairing SearchGPT it as a product feature in ChatGPT, might be a fairly terrible idea?since ChatGPT will shift to “What are you looking for?”. Search needs to be something we use many times a day. Instead of being used for complex solving tasks, is going to be used to answer trivial questions.

OpenAI spends on $1.5 Bn. on talent alone, over half of its entire ARR by the end of 2024.

Microsoft also claimed when ChatGPT came out that their version of Generative AI in search (Bing AI) would compete vs. Google.
