New rule, new tiers, new reward with Shopify Partner Program 2025

Shopify is launching new service and technology go-to-market tracks, making it easier for partners to grow within the ecosystem. This update introduces a structured, tiered model with defined requirements and benefits at each level. Not only does this enhance collaboration between Shopify and its partners, but it also simplifies the process for merchants to connect with top-tier partners.

1. A tiered model for all partner types and sizes

The revamped Shopify Partner Program is divided into two tracks: Service and Technology, each designed to provide specialized tools, insights, and advantages.

  • Service Partner Track: Tailored for agencies, consultancies, and system integrators that specialize in Shopify solutions. Partners in this track will be placed in one of five tiers—Registered, Select, Plus, Premier, or Platinum—based on performance metrics.
  • Technology Track: Designed for ISVs, app developers, ERP providers, and global tech firms integrating their solutions with Shopify. This track includes four levels—Registered, Plus, Premier, and Platinum—where the top three tiers are invitation-only and determined by performance.

2. Additional partner benefits are unlocked based on performance?

Partner tier placements depend on KPI, ensuring measurable impact and expertise. Evaluation criteria include:

  • Commercial Impact: Shopify-attributed revenue and the minimum number of completed deals
  • Skill Development (Service Track): Verified Skills credentials earned, with specific team size requirements
  • Product Integration (Technology Track): Meeting Shopify’s technical standards, including Built for Shopify (BFS) certification and additional quality benchmarks

Each tier unlocks exclusive benefits, such as:

  • Enhanced Partner Directory profiles with tier badges and Verified Skills recognition
  • Access to Shopify’s partner enablement resources, technical support, and marketing materials
  • Growth incentives, including marketing development funds, referral incentives (e.g., Plus Plan Referrals, Enterprise Commerce Incentive, and POS Profit Share)
  • Co-selling opportunities, including account mapping and Shopify referrals

3. Expanding education for partner success

With continuous product innovation and evolving merchant needs, Shopify Academy now offers 13 new Verified Skill learning paths and assessments. By completing these certifications, partners can validate their Shopify expertise, upskill their teams, and enhance merchant experiences.
