New role: Legal Counsel APAC

Due to continuous business growth the company's legal team is looking to hire a commercial lawyer experienced in Tech or SaaS work to look after APAC.

This is an excellent chance to join a friendly and close knit legal team that is central to this dynamic global business in an exciting and varied commercial legal role.


Role

You will join a friendly close knit legal team that looks after EMEA and APAC, reporting to Legal Director for these two regions.

Your will support the company's growing business in APAC. You will work in close collaboration with the business teams on a range of legal matters in the region.

Your primary responsibilities will be to provide legal support for commercial contracts in the region as well as providing ad-hoc legal support to the business teams including on data privacy, employment and product.

You will work closely with the commercial teams in APAC and act as a trusted legal advisor to the business with regards commercial transactions and contracts.


What you will do

  • Structure, review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including master services agreements, data processing agreements, service orders, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor agreements
  • Be a primary point of contact for regional sales teams in support of customer deals and for the procurement team
  • Build and maintain legal resources and know-how for commercial teams
  • Ensure agreements are drafted to adequately manage business risk and comply with applicable corporate policies
  • Assist in developing and implementing corporate and compliance policies and processes for APAC
  • Provide ad-hoc legal support to business teams on data protection, product and employment law
  • APAC remit
  • Focus 70% of your time on supporting the commercial team with commercial / tech / SaaS contracts + 30% other in-house legal matters
  • Report to EMEA and APAC Legal Director

Requirements

  • We are looking for a friendly, dynamic and personable individual who is keen to grow and develop in a smaller legal team as part of one of the Best Companies to Work For.
  • You are either a law firm associate looking for your first in-house role, or someone who has already worked in-house in a tech / SaaS company.
  • You are eligible to work in Australia and are based in Australia.
  • This role will best suit someone with ca. 4-7 years of post qualification experience.
