Job Title: Project or Senior Quantity Quantity Surveyor

Location: Manchester based projects

Sector: Fibre Networks / Utilities Projects – up to ￡55,000 plus package

My client is based in the Northwest of England and are dedicated to driving change across the area. They partner with Internet Service Providers to optimise the UK’s fibre network.

They are looking to recruit a leading Quantity Surveyor to join the business working on fibre framework projects throughout the Northwest. Experience working with NEC forms of contract and multiple contracts is desirable for this role.

The role of the Quantity Surveyor is an important part of the Build delivery team. The Quantity Surveyor will take full responsibility for the commercial administration of multiple contracts for the company.

Duties:

• All commercial activities including subcontractor tendering, cost analysis and reconciliation of invoices.
• The production of CVR reports for the projects monthly during the whole life cycle of the project.
• Producing monthly reports to the business on key performance indicators on for cost & sales, cost analysis and common trends.
• The costing of variations through the project life cycle.
• Subcontractor contract and cost analysis.
• Ensuring project works/sites are built within budget without quality being compromised and conducting where possible post implementation reviews with the project teams to maximise any commercial opportunities.
• Keeping work in progress to a minimum by ensuring invoicing is up to date.
• You will act as a focal point for data requests under the contract and will set up a system for collating data and analysing trends; managing expectations and maximising opportunities that may arise.
• The day-to-day Management of commercial and contract activities.
• Commercial forecasting and reporting, including maintaining the risk register.
• Using the contract appropriately to satisfy entitlements and minimise risk exposure.

The candidate:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a commercial / construction environment
• Higher level qualification in relevant field
• Excellent commercial acumen
• Experience working with NEC forms of contract
• Experience as a Project running Quantity Surveyor
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Good negotiation skills
• Experience engaging with suppliers and clients and being able to build and manage existing client relationships
• Experience managing subcontractors
• RICS Qualified is essential
• Extensive knowledge in estimating the cost of construction projects and working with contractors to provide cost effective plans
