New role in a new Company amidst a Global Pandemic!
I started my new job with Ad Hoc Property Management on the 5th December 2020 as the Branch Director for London. I want to share with you my experiences in the first 8 weeks of my tenure and the reason why I wanted to work for Ad Hoc:
Ad Hoc is the leader in vacant property management across the UK. We offer a variety of solutions to meet the client’s needs:
? Property Guardians
? Mobile & Fixed CCTV
? Alarms
? Guarding
I have found out very fast that vacant property management is a complex business. Empty buildings, commercial or residential, are a target for theft, trespass, vandalism and squatting, not to mention environmental hazards such as water, pest and fire damage. The main reason I wanted to take on the challenge at Ad Hoc is because I bought into the company’s core values from the first on-line meeting.
They are values that instantly struck a chord with me;
Committed – To providing a rewarding and engaged customer experience
Innovative – In the flexible solutions we provide for securing property and land
Socially Responsible – In the way we work with Guardians, property owners and local communities
Trusted – By all stakeholders to provide the right solution in a professional and compliant manner.
Excellence – To be the best at what we do.
My role consists of managing the day-to-day profitable operation of the business across the four product sectors, in a socially responsible manner to the benefit of all staff, property owners, Property Guardians, contractors, and the local communities in which we operate. The learning curve is steep, even for someone who has worked in commercial property for nearly 20 years. My first eight weeks has seen me juggling my induction programme with client meetings, hosting Guardian forums, property inspections, building qualifications, compliance reviews and let’s not forget getting to know the team (team meetings & 1-on-1’s) . All done with the help and support of the senior management group.
I have a lot to learn and I’m relishing the day to day diversity of the role.
Was it a risk to start a new role in such uncertain times? Yes
Do I regret it? NO!
If you don’t take opportunity to move forward when it comes your way, you are standing still and that’s not good for you!
