A new resource in solid waste management

Last week I attended a very interesting webinar on the USEPA and ISWA Toolkit on Best Practices in Solid Waste Management recently updated with a number of case studies, references, online resources and examples. This article lists down a number of aspects that I liked in the publication.

First, this book is focused on developing countries and the majority of best practices are taken from those countries, where there are many needs and gaps. As a result, it provides an easy to relate context. The format of the toolkit is excellent, which is easy to read, examples and case studies are provided and the list of references is relevant and updated. The toolkit has companion chapters on climate change, equity, plastic waste and recycling markets. All these topics are in demand and fill an important knowledge gap. The remaining topics are well covered in the training modules and videos. These include waste data, governance, organic waste and consensus building. Overall an excellent new resource, in an easy to use format with many new references and list of organisations involved. Congratulations to all those involved Sandra M Mazo-Nix Carlos RV Silva Filho Katie Linder and all those who promoted the knowledge and topics, including Hazel Ingham Terry Tudor Charlie Fenn Zo? Lenkiewicz Aditi Ramola Verele de Vreede Veronica Di Bella Roland Ramusch Lucy Stevens Dr. Sanjay K Gupta Azhar Ali Dr. Anne Scheinberg Shiza Aslam, MSc and many others, not mentioned here.

Agreed - robust & very practical resources, of which we need more. I also appreciated your insightful comments during the webinar about digital platforms, EPR & green jobs as other "winners" for advancing IRS integration. Thanks for sharing!
