New Research on Validity Thresholds and Sound Absorption Coefficients of Acoustic Materials Published in MDPI Acoustics
This study explores the crucial role of effective acoustic product development, focusing on testing and validating materials for sound absorption. We analyze the absorption coefficients of popular acoustic absorbers—polyester, fibreglass, and open-cell foam—and evaluate their effectiveness in a full-scale reverberation chamber.
One of the key findings is the impact of sample size and frequency components on absorption coefficients, helping to establish new thresholds for reduced sample sizes in practical applications. These insights aim to enhance cost-effective, sustainable, and accurate material testing for noise control.
