Did you know the New Relic Platform includes Synthetics Monitoring?
Let's clarify the difference between these two New Relic Products: Browser and Synthetics
Browser is RUM - Real User Monitoring. Every single Page/SPA requested by an active user is monitored and measured for load times, errors, route changes, etc. The Browser product is essential to understand your customer's digital experiences.
Synthetics is an automated check of a web page, scripted browser workflow or an API endpoint. Synthetic checks are proactive and execute from consistent location(s) either from cloud servers or private minions. Therefore, there are no user environment variations on resources affecting speed such as Network, CPU, Memory, etc. When there's a SLA involved in your business, Synthetic checks combined with Alerting is your source of truth.
Lastly...
New Relic uses the Browser product not only for monitoring front end performance but also to capture and track all user activity/behaviors. This contextual data turns plain monitoring into valuable insights into the Business KPI's. This is where the rubber meets the road and New Relic becomes a Digital Intelligence Platform.
