JWG FINOS ESG HACKATHON – RECAP

JWG drove the FINOS RegTech Council’s data industrialization hackathon to produce a working method for audit-grade ESG data reporting on 8 November.

65 people from 19 organisations worked in cross-disciplinary sprints to develop a common understanding to break down the steps required from London including US, CH, DE, SGP and other locations.

Regulatory interpretation of ESRS emissions data was captured by SMEs on the RegDelta platform which houses the business’ truth. This then enables the transformation / consolidation and calculation with data collected from 3rd party providers. ?

In a nutshell, we learnt it is possible for FINOS’ Legend platform to provide a bridge to 3rd party ESG data and reduce friction by:

  1. Mapping data dictionaries to multi-dimensional schemas (e.g., XBRL)
  2. Agreeing a common ESG data language and associated quality metrics/ metadata
  3. Aligning data interpretation back to regulatory requirements (i.e., texts).

It was great to have a great team of firms, EY, ?Solidatus, Atome and others there to help identify what is required for the ‘end to end’ journey. See the hackathon readme file for more information on the day.

JWG is excited by this ‘new and live’ RegTech use case for a more mature sector that we’re bringing together physically in London on 7 February 2024.

We’ll be covering how RegTech solutions can meet ESG CSRD/ SFDR / EBA Pillar 3 reporting needs, derivatives reporting (e.g., CFTC rewrite, EMIR.Refit) AND new BCBS239 guidelines. ?

With new US/EU/UK regulatory reporting strategies in progress and opensource RegTech being deployed, its critical to be in the room to help deliver RegTech in better, faster, cheaper and safer ways.
