How should incumbents cooperate and compete when 'BigTech' companies like Google or Apple offer similar services? Addressing this question, Georg Reischauer and colleagues from WU Vienna and the University of Surrey present their findings in Research Policy, a leading journal in management studies. Drawing on a case study in the automotive industry and the examples of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, they develop a coopetition model that outlines cooperative and competitive responses of incumbents vis-a-vis 'BigTech' companies, along with the outcomes of these responses. The research leading to this publication was also supported by the Linz Institute of Technology. It can be openly accessed here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0048733324000817
