New Proposed Fees for Immigration Services Coming in September
This Spring, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a plan for a new proposed rule on immigration service fees charged by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The DHS will publish the proposed rule in September 2022, which will cover all visa, change of status, and employment petitions. This new rule will replace the 2020 rule that was enjoined by the court.
People concerning potential fee hikes in visa applications do not need to worry now. The new proposed rule may not show increased application fees like the 2020 rule did. Also, terms in the proposed rule can change as the DHS must consider comments made by the public. Lastly, even if the proposed rule does not change after public comments, the rule may face potential litigations and be enjoined.
