Thank you to all regular readers. If we're not connected, be sure to follow to never miss any of the multiple articles about technical writing that I publish every week. ?? Listen to the sibling podcast where hosts Daphne and Fred provide insightful analysis on Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and Spotify.
Recently, I was pondering the topic of inclusivity in the context of business and IT communications. I published an article entitled "Technical Writing Tips & Tricks" that featured a section about why social media hashtags should include initial caps (the initial caps treatment improves readability significantly and better serves those who employ screen readers, such as people with blindness and dyslexia.
This got me thinking of other ways in which I could make my content more inclusive. Certainly a sincere effort isn't limited to hashtags, after all. I began thinking more about audio and how it helps not only those with visual challenges and cognitive disorders, but also millions who simply prefer (or need) to listen instead of read.
Multitaskers Want to Listen & Learn
Busy professionals who practice multitasking often leverage times when they cannot read or watch a video to listen and learn. Drive time and exercise sessions are two great examples of situations during which IT professionals can engage in podcasts, audio books, and other listenable resources to learn new skills, stay current on industry developments, and network for career advancement.
You Want Text + Audio
That's when I got the idea to make all of my text content available in the form of audio. This simple act expands those who can consume my content in a significant way. Now, instead of reading my daily articles, you can also listen to them. It's your choice.
People possess highly variable learning styles. Not everyone optimally absorbs text or even enjoys the act of reading. In our modern tech-laden society, the consumers of our content should not be relegated to only text or any single format or platform. Not if we, as successful technical writers, are doing our jobs right.

Like my articles, podcast episodes are published five days a week, Monday through Friday. A digest of these episodes is released every Saturday in the Tech Writing Success Newsletter on LinkedIn (subscribe today to never miss a single drop).
Short for Busy Professionals
Both my articles and my podcast episodes are strategically short to cater to the reality of busy IT professionals and knowledge workers who simply don't have the time for long content. This includes being 100 percent free of distracting and obnoxious ads.
Most podcast episodes are under 10 minutes. They are about absorbing and learning as much as possible while taking as little of your bandwidth as necessary. My production methodology prioritizes your hectic schedule. These podcast episodes—and the articles they mirror—give you actionable insights in just a few minutes every day.
Happy Listening
For those who are regular readers of my articles, you now have more flexibility in how you consume my content. You can do so during your Saturday morning run, at the gym, or during your work commute (it beats cursing the bumper-to-bumper traffic).
Thanks for subscribing and listening. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
