VINYL RECORD OF THE WEEK

30 YEARS since the release of?The Offspring's influential album Smash. Released in the aftermath of Kurt Cobain's death, Smash rode the wave of punk's resurgence, challenging the grunge movement that had dominated the early '90s.?

For me, this is probably my all time favourite vinyl in my pop punk collection!?As the best-selling independent album at the time, it showcased The Offspring's raw energy and distinct punk ethos, contrasting with contemporaries like Green Day. Hits like “Come Out and Play” and “Self Esteem” not only dominated the charts but also encapsulated the spirit of the era! As a 13 year old kid when this came out, I was the only person in my school that was listening to bands like Offspring, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins.

TO me,?Smash is a nostalgic journey and a reminder of its role in shaping the pop/punk landscape. A 30 year anniversary here to set the standards!!
