New PMP Exam Content Outline (2019)
Some asked me what the meaning of the new PMP exam content outline is. I don't know, but here is what is said:
1. The new outline is based on the survey on Role Delineation Study (RDS) or Job Task Analysis (JTA), and
2. It addressed the trend in the profession that is not being addressed in the retiring exam outline.
Looking at the new domain of People, Process, and Business Environment, I would believe it is based on the PMI Talent Triangle of Leadership, Technical and Strategic. If you look into all PMBOK 49 processes Tools and Techniques, it does cover all three domains.
I would believe that the PMP is not replacing the ACP. As the approach concern, it is only focused on the project management knowledge and skills mentioned in the PMBOK. So, I wouldn't worry much on the Agile and Hybrid approaches if you are not an Agile Practitioner. Similar to what you have learned from your PMP exam prep class, you just need to remember all the 49 processes' ITTO.
So, what are the changes? The changes are the way of assessing based on the Talent Triangle rather than the project management process groups, and it addressed the new content of PMBOK version 6. which I believe that currently everyone already taking as is it. But one thing for sure, the passing mark will be challenging with just 3 domains compared to 5 on the retiring outline.
Ah, yes. Something I appreciate most as the trainer is that the structure of the outline explained what the domain, task and enablers is. This allowed both the trainer and trainees to prepare the exam with more focus and proper guidance.
There is some missing information from the retiring outline in the new outline. Are the pre-test (unscored) questions still there?
But until more information being released, all above is just my assumption based on what stated in https://www.pmi.org/certifications/types/project-management-pmp/exam-prep/changes.
Good Luck.
