New Personal Website LeeEnglestone.com

Some of you may know that I have a personal website at ManchesterDeveloper.com.

Truth be told, I have not been keeping it up to date, choosing to create and share most of my content on LinkedIn instead.

So I recently decided that it was time for a refresh, a new site altogether in fact.

Why?

  • The codebase for the old site was starting to bloat
  • It was in an older version of ASP.NET and the upgrade path looked unsavoury (whilst conversion tools will manage 60%, it's the remaining 40% that you'll lose days on).
  • I wanted to give it a new look & feel (design from WrapBoostrap, license paid for).
  • I do less development day-to-day. I may not always be a Developer, but I will always be Lee Englestone
  • "Manchester Developer" searches resulted in my site being returned lower and lower in search results eventually being replaced altogether with property development results.
  • Anyone visiting the site and not finding my LinkedIn content, may think I was rather inactive (certainly not true!).

LeeEnglestone.com

For the last few evenings I've been working on LeeEnglestone.com as a replacement site as I still believe that it is important to have a curated online presence in this day and age (for multiple reasons). As well as a blog, it also serves as a great place to list previous hackathons, talks and projects.

Please bear with me as I migrate content (mainly images TBH as both sites already share the same data source) and copy some content from LinkedIn to the site. I will then put various permanent redirects from ManchesterDeveloper.com to LeeEnglestone.com, eventually turning off ManchesterDeveloper.com completely.

I hope you enjoy the new site! Please be patient - It is still in development!
