New online course - Understand the basics of blood glucose control

Blood glucose monitoring is a fundamental component of diabetes care to help delay or avoid the short and long-term complications associated with the condition.
The?IDF School of Diabetes?is delighted to present a new free interactive online course to help people living with diabetes and those who care for them?understand the basics of blood glucose control.
Available on?www.understandingdiabetes.org, the 15-20 minute course describes how blood glucose is measured, what to do when blood glucose levels go too high or low and highlights the importance of keeping levels within the target range as much as possible.
This course has been made possible with the support of Servier.
Education to protect tomorrow?is the theme of IDF’s campaign to mark?World Diabetes Day?in November this year, the second year of our three-year focus on access to diabetes care. Activities will focus on highlighting the need for better access to quality diabetes education for health professionals and people living with diabetes. The first materials for the campaign are now available to inform and support awareness activities in November.
To mark the launch of the 2022 campaign, IDF carried out research revealing?that?one in five Google searches for terms related to diabetes reveal inaccurate information?about the condition and how to manage its complications.
“Many people now turn to Google and the internet for advice, so it’s worrying that misinformation about diabetes is still rife online," said Professor Andrew Boulton, IDF President. "With the prevalence of diabetes showing no signs of declining, ensuring that healthcare professionals are equipped to provide the best possible care and that people with diabetes can make informed decisions about their self-care is more important than ever."
