New On-Call Firefighters Join Humberside Fire and Rescue Service

Today we congratulate and welcome 11 On-Call firefighters to the Humberside Fire family.

In celebration of the successful completion of 8 weeks of hard work, our third On-Call Recruits Course from 2022, had the opportunity to showcase their firefighting and life-saving in front of family and friends.

Phil Shillito, Chief Fire Officer, said: “Every firefighter plays a vital role in keeping our communities and each other safe. The pride and satisfaction in serving the community and being part of this incredible team cannot be underestimated.

On-Call firefighters serve a pivotal role in their local community, making themselves available to respond to 999 emergencies while balancing their primary employment. Through On-Call firefighter training, they develop valuable transferable skills, such as leadership, teamwork, communication, first aid, trauma care, and more.”

“Today marks the beginning of a career that is both challenging and fulfilling, but also brings with it great responsibility. I am so very proud of the hard work our recruits have done and watch them pass out from the recruits course.”

We look forward to seeing our new firefighters join their local fire stations and support their communities at:

  • Bridlington
  • Crowle
  • Driffield

  • Hornsea
