The New Normal is New Normals

The New Normal is New Normals

How many times in the last 14 years have we said “unprecedented,” “black swan,” “this was completely unexpected and hasn’t happened before,” “we couldn’t have planned for this,” etc.????

We have all heard the phrase “new normal” right? Guess what... In my opinion, the “new normal” is many and recurring new normals. We should prepare for this reality.

Here are some steps we can take to make sure we are set up to win in this new environment:

1?? Make sure your default mindset is gratitude. Train your mind every day to see the good. Use apps like ThinkUp, journal, read positive things. Limit intake of news.

2?? Work on learning new skills, on being more valuable to your employer, employees, clients, etc. all the time.

3?? Accept the reality that change is coming. You won’t always see it coming, it could come suddenly. If you don’t shift with these changes you could be in trouble very quickly.

4?? Spend less than you make. Seems simple, but having been a lender for over 20 years I can tell you that a lot of folks don’t do this still. This will allow you to do the next steps. ??

5?? Do not use credit for things that aren’t a necessity. If you can help it, don’t use credit for anything that won’t pay you an income. If you want to finance something that doesn’t pay you an income make sure you put down enough to sell it at “Carmax trade in value prices.” This way, in the event of an unforeseen emergency you can get out of the payment quickly.

6?? Save money. Start small and “gamify” the increase of your savings level over time. If you are not of or near retirement age make sure you aren’t just saving in retirement accounts, make sure you can get to it in an emergency (like a pandemic where you can’t work for 60-90 days).

Be great today friends! We are in this together! #covid19 #M2BG
