We all might have already heard about the latest break records of the solar energy prices that has been submitted by Jinko Solar for the 350 Mw solar plant in Abu Dhabi with 2.42 Cent USD/Kwh.
There are many secrets behind this deal been cooked to reach to this achievement, of course they are all legal secrets no doubts; the question is which secret is the biggest & the most effective.
The answer for this is the subject of my post "A new nightmare for the solar panels manufacturers"; yes it is a nightmare particularly for the non silicon panels manufacturers, as per the above graph "Price history of silicon PV Cells" the prices of the silicon cells last year was 30 Cent USD, nowadays it is almost 13 cent USD, almost 50% drop on the PV cells prices, nowadays the cost to manufacture the PV panels is almost 30 cent USD/Watt, selling price is between 35-40 Cent USD/Watt.
The only different & competitive edge for non silicon PV panels is the efficiency, BUT; with this new drop on the silicon PV panels prices, does efficiency still play the same role before? would you buy for your solar plant non Silicon panels with 10-20% extra cost??
This is an open question for whoever want to share with us his answer & opinion...

8 年Adil Alomair - As we already know, silicon is silicon and will "NOT get anymore efficient than 25.0%, (Don't think that will ever happen in the residential / commercial sector), ... That being said, we need to make it more attractive with direct end user incentives, not everyone likes or can use the FTC, ... How about empowering people to buy more solar by offering more rebates for going solar like it used to be in the USA, California specifically, ... I remember that there use to be rebates of $4.50 a watt. Most manufacturers will just re-box their current solar panels like Sunpower did by buying an inverter manufacturer, installing it on the 327 and calling it gold, ... lol / LG is much better by far, so don'heir kool-aid. We need governments to offer direct cash incentives, bring back the rebates!!!! Sorry for rambling but these are the facts ... Just Saying!
