New Name, New Space: A Conversation With Ian McGregor of Ian McGregor Architects

New Name, New Space: A Conversation With Ian McGregor of Ian McGregor Architects

Albyn Architects, based in Aberdeen, has completed a management buyout and has rebranded as Ian McGregor Architects . With this rebranding, and their recent move to neospace, we thought we would sit down with Ian to learn how his neo experience has been so far.

Could you tell me a bit about yourself and what you do?

Sure, I'm an architect and I run an architectural practice. We recently moved here with my team members, Caroline and Elena.

How did the company rebranding come about?

Yes, we rebranded recently. I was responsible for the running of Albyn Architects, as 50/50 director with my business partner, Mark. Having achieved the goals we set out working together, it was agreed that I would take over the business to allow us to both focus our specialisms. The rebrand signifies this change in ownership, with the continuation of projects and staff under the new name.

How long did you work together before the rebrand?

We worked together for just under six years. It was successful in terms of increasing turnover and completing many projects. The rebrand allows me to move the practice forward, utilising the combined skill, experience and knowledge of our team to work on some really exciting projects. ?

How has the transition to the new office at neospace been?

It's been positive. We like the new space and the community aspect. Scott was very helpful in showing us around the building. It also leaves a positive first impression on those who come in to visit us.

What motivated you to join neospace?

The facilities were a big draw. Our previous office was larger, in terms of footprint, but the amenities here, like the meeting rooms, lounges, kitchen, and gym, are excellent. The cost was comparable, but the benefits were greater, and the central location is convenient.

Have you found the facilities useful?

Yes, we've used the meeting rooms and the gym so far. It is really useful having everything under one roof, we are trying to make use of everything.

What’s your favourite aspect of this space?

The friendly and welcoming environment. Everyone here, including the neospace staff, have been very helpful and have made us feel at home. It's a nice place to work with a great community. We actually attended a Cheese & Wine Evening back in November before we became members. That was a great night, and we would love to get involved in some future events here. It's also probably one of the cleanest places I have ever been, it is always spotless. It's those little things that make a big difference.

Would you recommend this space to other businesses?

Absolutely, I already have. When people come in for a meeting with us, I will show them around. It's easy to recommend because of the great facilities and positive environment. It's been a good move for us.

We would like to say a big thank you to Ian for taking the time to speak with us, we are delighted to have yourself and your team here at neospace. To find out more about Ian McGregor Architects, visit their website here: https://www.ianmcgregorarchitects.co.uk/

Thanks Claire Milne for the write up. Hopefully our love for neospace isn't too sickening!
