A New Name for a New Era

Some of you know that 2023 was a rough year for me...

A lease for a new place in New Jersey fell through at the eleventh hour, and just as we started unpacking to stay in Brooklyn, we were kicked out for five weeks for a bathroom renovation. We signed for a new apartment in the Spring but couldn’t move in until mid-June, meaning we had to live with Ben’s uncle and put all our stuff in storage for a month in-between our two leases.

It was unmooring — there were many months in 2023 where I didn’t feel safe or secure in my own home, or I felt like an intruder in someone else’s. It caused me to get quieter, to turn down coffee dates and turn inward instead.

Somehow, my business was steady even though my home life was not.

My team kept meetings, even if last-minute disruptions meant I couldn't attend. They continued to provide research, write copy and create content while I packed & re-packed our Subaru for trips back & forth to NJ. Through it all, we maintained caring relationships with our clients and our marketing projects were meeting all our stated objectives.

I started to understand, with total certainty, that this marketing firm is bigger than me.

The framework I’ve designed for creating a marketing plan is reliable, repeatable, and fully customizable for our nonprofit and creative clients. It works,?even when I’m not personally available to lead each bit of it.

That personal chaos gave me concrete proof that it was time to ditch the personal brand and embrace a company name.

Our consulting is?Grounded Growth Marketing, not?Amy Jacobus Marketing.

And that will be our new name, when we launch our full rebrand this summer.

Last Fall, I went on a listening tour, speaking with clients about the confusion they face in their approach to marketing, the overwhelming feeling to be everywhere at once, and the desire to take the right action at the right moment.

What I heard has me more determined than ever to provide:

  • greater understanding of how to maximize the impact of your unique strengths & values,
  • better prioritization of the most effective & efficient paths to your audiences, and
  • clearer action items to build a more consistent & constant rhythm of promotion

This is what I believe prompts?grounded?growth — successful and sustainable success that comes from a deeper knowing.
