New Moon, who dis?

New Moon, who dis?

Some of you may know but I always use the Lunar New Year to set my annual intentions and goals. December 31st is way too soon and has too much going on for me to find time to focus. Plus, in my experience, early January always feels slow to get going so I like to get into it a bit and then focus on goal setting. As we welcome the Lunar New Year, we are also greeted by a powerful new moon in the sign of Aquarius.

This new moon is a time of fresh beginnings and new opportunities, making it the perfect moment to set intentions and align with the energy of the cosmos.

So what the heck is a new moon anyway? Let's review. Each month, the Moon completes its orbit around the Earth, reflecting the Sun's light and creating the phases of waxing and waning. The new Moon phase marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle and represents a powerful alignment between the Sun and Moon. This conjunction is considered one of the most significant aspects of astrology and is characterized by the combined gravitational pull of both celestial bodies.

This powerful alignment, known as the new Moon, is a time to harness the energy of the cosmos to manifest our goals and aspirations. The combination of the Sun and Moon's energies creates a subtle frequency that is felt in our consciousness. This frequency is believed to be the point where different energies intersect and is said to extend beyond the physical body, allowing us to perceive things that are not visible to the eye.

The moon was just in Capricorn and as we transition from the grounded earthiness of Capricorn to the innovative, forward-thinking energy of Aquarius, we are reminded that this air sign brings a detached perspective and a wise, objective lens. This new moon in the first degree of Aquarius marks a fresh start, bursting with potential and possibilities.

It presents an opportunity to set intentions that align with your desired frequency and attract the life you wish to live. This new Moon is particularly energetic, making it a suitable time to focus on your inner energetic body and the vibration you are emitting to the world. It is important to remember that the energy you emit will attract similar energy in return, whether it comes in the form of people, projects, resources, or other serendipitous encounters that help you manifest your visions.

Working with the energy of the Moon is a way to build awareness around these shifts in consciousness and direct them in a way that aligns with our personal goals and intentions.

Here are a few ways to honor and harness the power of this new moon:

  • Reflect on your goals and aspirations. Aquarius is known for its forward-thinking and innovative energy. Use this new moon to tap into that energy and set intentions for the future.
  • Connect with your community. Aquarius is also associated with community and collective consciousness. Take this opportunity to connect with others and work towards a shared goal or vision.
  • Experiment with new things. Aquarius is a sign of experimentation and unconventional thinking. Embrace this energy by trying something new or stepping out of your comfort zone.
  • Practice self-care. This new moon can also bring feelings of restlessness or detachment. Remember to take care of yourself and practice self-compassion.
  • Use ritual to honor the new moon. Light a candle, create a vision board or write a letter to the universe expressing your intentions.
  • Burn a candle, set up some crystals, put your letter/intentions/visions nearby, and let the candle burn all the way down.

Remember that the energy of the new moon is a powerful tool, but it is essential to remember that it is only one piece of the puzzle. Trust in the journey and stay open to the possibilities that the universe has in store for you.

Happy intention setting! I'd love to hear what you come up with!
