TL;DR Set some powerful new intentions for your life, use the New Moon Intentions Guide I created to help.
Today is the new moon ! Those of you who have been following long enough know that this is a time for setting powerful intentions that will support you in the weeks and months to come. And while it may seem trivial, or you may not even be sure you believe the moon cycles have an impact in your life, ask yourself, “Is it ever really a bad time to get clear on what I want in my life?”
The answer, I’m guessing, is a resounding “No!”
As you likely already know, I am a coach. And as a coach I help people intimately with the challenges that they face in their life. And sometimes the biggest challenge that a person is facing is that they really don’t know what it is they want. They work hard, they are driven, motivated, excited, talented, and willing to go to any length to see their success come to life.
The problem, however, is that they don’t really know what they’re working towards (or what success looks like, for that matter) and therefore don’t know how to find the focus they need to really get where they deeply, or desperately, want to go.
I know how painful this can be since this was my own story for so long. I work hard. I am smart. I’m driven. If you gave me a goal I would smash it. Over and over again. But I would get easily frustrated as I hit each milestone but felt no closer to my true goal – because I couldn’t fully define what that goal actually was. I had a vague sense of what I wanted in my life, or how I wanted to feel, but the reality was I just kept hoping that by working hard the “right” path would appear and I’d know I was heading in the right direction.
As long as I kept showing up to do the work, many different paths appeared before me. And I would use a mix of intuition and self-judgement and ego to make the next “best” choice. But I kept finding myself in the same destination. Accomplished, but somehow feeling like I hadn’t really done the thing I wanted to do.
I used to dislike the word “North Star”. It felt so cheesy to me. I would never set one in place because it seemed like some marketing gimmick that a more successful coach put out into the world for us all to praise and follow. And then I realized this was about as effective as shooting myself in the foot. The name itself is not what matters, and yes, I learned to temper my dislike for it, but rather the concept and belief that if we get clear on our own North Star it would become difficult, if not impossible, to get there.
Once you gain that clarity and understanding of what you want in your life, of how you want to feel every day that you wake up, and you make a conscious choice to figure out how to make it happen, you are, in essence, following that North Star. Every time you are lead astray you can look up again and there it is, faithfully waiting for you – no matter how lost you’ve gotten.

That’s the beauty of putting in the time to clear away the “I don’t knows.” and “I’m easy going, anything works for me.” to put a stake in the ground and say, “THIS is what I want for my life!” It is not selfish. It is not silly, or even cheesy as I used to think. It is truly owning your own, precious life and deciding that you are absolutely worth it – you deserve to live out the vision you have for yourself, no matter how far away from that you may feel today.
When I work with my private clients it can take us months to figure out, with certainty, what it is they really want. But once they have a taste of it, once they truly know – there is no turning back.
And let me tell you, before you go and assume that this is some lofty idea from a coach put out into the world for marketing purposes (eye roll, please) know that I deeply and intimately understand the pain that comes along with not knowing. That is why I’ve made it my mission to help people shortcut that struggle so they can get on the path of creating a life they love today.
If you’re keen to figure out your own path forward, or have been trying to do so for a while, take the smallest possible step forward and begin with some New Moon Intentions . Put some ideas out into the world that you’d love to experience, and put your faith in the universe that you will be heard. Then see what happens. You never know how quickly you’ll be heard!
Sending you lots of love today on this beautiful new moon – wishing you an autumn season full of hope and love.
Love always,
Amanda
P.S. On a more somber note, if you’ve been struggling with the news or feeling lost or alone, please know that you are not. We are all reeling from the latest news and doing our best to lift our heads up each and every day to discover what it is we can offer in the world. I am right here with you, grieving the loss of life and the tragedy that unfolds live before our eyes. I truly and deeply believe the biggest gift we can give the world is our own special magic – in whatever form that may be. And so, today, I am giving you mine.
