SolarWall? Air Heating: The future of clean heating
Welcome to my new monthly posts. As inventor of SolarWall, I want to share some of my solar experiences and will begin with the thermostat switch over from cooling to heating. Solar heating is free and the old rules of conserving energy by lowering the thermostat is not necessary when the sun shines so let the heat flow a few degrees above the gas set point and enjoy the warmth without travelling south. By raising the daytime temperature, the thermal mass inside the building will provide additional heat into the evening hours which will further reduce the natural gas usage. I recommend setting the solar thermostat at a minimum 23 C or 73 F but still maintain the gas setting at the lower level. Try it.
