Virtually all the growth in digital advertising is coming from mobile. It's projected to surpass to TV media buys in 2019. But like television, one of the major challenges to digital advertising has been how to verify whether your audience actually looks at the ads they're shown.
To compensate for that, the industry has come up with different pricing schemes varying from impressions to click-throughs but in the end you still never really know if the mobile app user is actually engaging with your ad content... until now.
Jinglz is developing a new ad platform that uses mobile device sensor technology through facial and audio detection to actually verify that the user watches the video ad content they're served.
Once we set out to disrupt the current concept of mobile advertising, the first step was to develop a way to actually verify when a user sees an ad, and we've accomplished that.
We first created a proof-of-concept mobile app that plays video ads and uses facial and audio detection to verify that a user really watches the ads they're served: If they look away, the app recognizes it and pauses the ad If they put down the device, the app recognizes it and pauses the ad. If they turn down the volume, the app recognizes it and pauses the ad. But once the user watches the ad, they're rewarded as part of a simple game that lets them earn points for entry into sweepstakes-style contests.
The PlayJinglz Mobile App
This proof-of-concept app-- now known as PlayJinglz, has been fully developed from the ground up to handle literally millions of users. We're currently in beta testing on the initial functionality, and rolling feature additions, such as simple time-burning games that will give users even more ways to watch targeted video ad content, earn points, and redeem rewards will be added once the app goes into public release.
Our data during the initial proof-of-concept phase validated our approach and proved conclusively that users will willingly engage with mobile advertising.
