New Marine Corrosion Course
It was great to work with the team at Darthaven Marina who are keen to support their clients with the highest quality services and professional training.
Metal Metropol’s Dr. Mike Lewus & Wavebreak’s Paul Madeley - in collaboration with the International Institute of Marine Surveying - were invited to give a two-day training course on marine corrosion in Dartmouth.
Course content:
The training includes a variety of demonstrations with tanks of water, a range of metals demonstrating the galvanic series and a model boat to simulate galvanic bonding and stray currents. Also, a run-through of the typical approach for a corrosion survey on a vessel.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is aimed at marina and boatyard managers, marine surveyors and technicians responsible for the mitigation and prevention of corrosion issues associated with berthed vessels, electrical infrastructure and piling/harbour support structures.
The course is designed to give the attending delegates both a grounding in fundamental corrosion principles and an appreciation of the practical measurements associated with hull potentials, galvanic and stray currents that can be made in the field. An important aspect covered is the meaning and interpretation of the quantities measured.
