Price List Commentary

If you’ve read our white paper Xactimate: The History & The Future, you’ll remember that Xactimate was initially created as a residential claims settlement tool. While Xactimate can certainly be applied as a commercial estimating/invoicing solution, the line items in the Price List occasionally warrant yield adjustments to ensure they can be properly applied in a commercial environment.

That said, the Pricing Department understands this concept and is looking to address it by adding more commercial-related line items! This month’s edition of two line items doesn’t give us a ton to write about, but it’s definitely progress, and that is something to be celebrated.

For your office-dwelling people, fear not! The battle for the thermostat has finally ended with the addition of these new line items:

-HVCTSLB Thermostat – lockbox

-HVCTSLBRS Thermostat – lockbox – Detach & reset

Diving into the components buildup of these line items, we can see that a combination of labor and material adequately addresses the activities performed in the HVCTSLB line item and just labor for the detach & reset line item.

The addition of these line items will help inevitably help contractors and claims professionals settle commercial claims a little more swiftly, so we are happy to see this commercial-driven initiative from the Pricing Department.

Let’s turn our attention to three line items that have seen updates to their Additional Item Information: PLMRFIXP, PLMRGHFIX, and PLMROUGH.

When you compare the screenshots from the September Price List to the November Price List, you can see the addition of the word “rough” before referencing supply lines in the Includes section. This clarifies the major differences between the rough supply line (plumbing activities within the wall) and the main supply line (plumbing activities outside of the wall/inside the property), as well as which supply line(s) was intended to be included in each respective line item. While these may seem like trivial changes, it’s clarifications like these that allow contractors and claims professionals to avoid the traditional friction that occurs when the two parties interpret a line item in diametrically opposite ways. We are big fans of material changes that allow all of us to find space to fall in love with our jobs again!
