New kid on the block
So as April draws to a close it marks the end of my first month at IGS. Even Covid19 couldn't dampen my enthusiasm (or theirs) for getting started in my new role, despite #lockdown already being in place.
Well it has been everything I had hoped for, and more, albeit all done from the comfort of my own home. A great, inclusive bunch of people who are focused and driving hard at whatever their individual and collective goals are, from software sprints to engineering challenges. My slight worries about integration into a team during remotely have been universally squashed and for that I really am grateful to the team. I have worked so hard, concentrated so much and enjoyed (almost) every second of it so far.
The company. With two areas of our business it is really exciting to see the ultra efficient technology already being deployed in our Vertical Farm, knowing that much of the tech can be just as successfully deployed in everything from horticulture, smart spaces, retail, car parks and beyond. It is great to see one area of the business with an award winning business proposal while the the other efficiently puts the finishing touches on our own business readiness. It is really good to come into a business that knows exactly what it wants to achieve but doesn't have a cumbersome or fixed structure in place. Allowing for an almost focused chaos?
Well let me tell you about what I know of my crew so far. A crazy bunch of international pirates who will stop at nothing to plunder riches and infamy. Well, not quite, that bit was simply my over active imagination but I could draw a few parallels in truth. They will stop at nothing short of success, and from our CEO (who just this week received two more awards) to the others in the senior leadership team (senior tech veterans of many very successful collaborations), we then have a layer of experience in software development, production capability, power engineering and much more. Add in a sprinkle of seasoned marketeers, a few crop scientists and a raft of other capable people, we have a very well assembled crew.
My job, well its easy if you enjoy hard work. Take an innovative, disruptive proposition to market and develop the channel partners who can help us to execute effectively into each of our ideal sectors throughout Europe. I enjoy building relationships, watching the channels grow, seeing opportunities turn into orders that turn into environments. I will be working with, and for, the channel partners to ensure our business effort is best placed to deliver maximum return in each territory. I will be answerable to each and every channel partner across Europe and them to me, and I wouldn't want it to be any other way. In a few years we will all laugh about the success we managed as a nimble, entrepreneurial collective that said yes to anything and everything that was going to move our companies and territories forward. The famous deals that got away and the many more that didn't will become folklore in the pub, slightly embellished over the years. I don't pretend to be the brightest or most innovative but my skills lie in delivery of promises, supporting my customers 24/7 and building authentic relationships that encourage collaboration.
We are currently looking at the channel strategy and it really is a great time to give us a shout if you are in the following sectors and interested in an energy efficient power platform complete with IoT enablement
- Retail
- Car Parks
- Facilities Management
- Horticulture/Animal/Growing
- Events/Education/Smart Spaces
- Commercial Tenants
