New Jobs in West Texas

Since COVID-19 shocked the entire industry at the end of March, there has been an entire workforce left in question in regards to their future with the oilfield.

As of December 2, 2020, there have been new jobs surface in multiple fields due to the ramp-up on production of oil. A recruitment consultant firm that operates in Midland, Texas has reported that one of their clients are hiring over 70 drivers to work as sand haulers. "We have never seen these numbers of people looking for work before. Our goal is to get as many people hired to good paying positions as possible as quick as possible... We need to get the people back to work!"

At the end of November they placed over 50 people as Hydraulic Fracturing Operators and Diesel Mechanics to begin operations in the permian basin. There is an opportunity available to anyone with a desire to work hard and cash-out as the price of oil rises once again.

A few tips to applicants trying to find some work:

  1. Find a recruiter that can help! Many times, a recruiter can open doors for you that you can not simply because they have access to information you don't. A good recruiter can point you in the right direction even if they can not personally help you. There is a company that focuses on finding volume based work (meaning they find companies that need to hire a ton of people) and finds candidates that are in the job search and are qualified and connects them: Walter Resource Partners. Contact one of their recruiters to get put on lists.
  2. Use diffferent avenues! Don't rely on one website for your job search. On top of applying on Indeed, you should also look on Linked-In to find key people to connect with that can possibly help you move forward with your job search. Don't be afraid to look on craigslist as well, as many employers use different avenues to find you!
  3. Don't be afraid to follow up. If there is a company that you have your heart set on, let it be known. Call in, email, text, send a gift basket (joking), but do something. You will be a memorable candidate if you do things that don't usually get done.
  4. Use this time getting new qualifications to start earning more from the get-go! If you don't have a CDL, get one. If you have one, get another endorsement. Many companies will see you as a competitive candidate if you can perform more duties with those new endorsements.

We wish you the best of luck on your job search!

Seek and you shall find!
