MPT Summit: Envisioning the Future of HIV/STI Prevention &?Contraception

Join PHI’s CAMI Health?at Envisioning the Future of HIV/STI Prevention and Contraception?on June 24–25, 2024, either virtually or in person in Rockville, Maryland.?Multipurpose Prevention Technologies (MPTs) are innovative products designed to?combine prevention of at least two sexual and reproductive health?risks, including HIV, other STIs?and unintended pregnancy—with the potential to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide.?Participants will hear?from leading experts in the field, explore?15 years of MPT research and discuss what's needed to help ensure MPTs reach the hands of users. The MPT Summit is a free event; registration is limited and required?for both virtual and in-person participation. New Resources: How to Shift the Narrative on Domestic Violence & Homelessness

80% of unhoused women with children?report?having experienced domestic violence prior to losing their housing. Why, then, don’t we see that connection making headlines? A new report and blog from PHI's Berkeley Media Studies Group explore?how the news outlets report on these issues and recommendations for advocates to help build?narrative connections that demonstrate why addressing homelessness and domestic violence matters for everyone. One insight: Identify and train credible messengers—especially those who have been impacted personally—to expand both journalists’ and audiences’ views on who is considered an expert.   • PHI in the LA Times: Study Helps Protect School Children from Pesticide Exposure: A 2014 report from PHI’s Tracking California examined exposure to agricultural pesticides in California schools and found that Latinx children were more likely than White children to attend schools that are at risk of pesticide exposure. The LA Times referenced the study in an article about AB 1864, which would require farms near schools to notify county officials before spraying pesticides, aiming to reduce exposure to carcinogens and address racial health disparities.
