The New Jira
There is always something exciting happening in the world of Atlassian Jira. This time they have come-up with a new tool, called...... "Jira".. :D.. in exact words of Dave Meyer, Head of Product, Jira.
Yes, a new project which combines the power of two amazing Atlassian tools, Jira Software and Jira Work Management and simply naming it as Jira with a belief that great teams are built on a foundation of shared goals, coordinated work, and free-flowing information across functions.
Some of the key highlights that can be found in new Jira are:
ALIGNED TO SHARED GOALS :
1. Every function within your organization from engineers to marketers to designers and other teams are aligned to shared objectives.
2. Makes it easier to track success of all the teams across all projects in one space.
3. Goals in Jira will be introduced in upcoming months.
4. Teams will be able to create Goals in both list and issue view so that they get a good view of how their work maps to higher objective.
DECOMPOSE WORK EASIER WITH AI ( ! Artificial Intelligence, but Atlassian Intelligence) :
1. Introducing AI work breakdown. This will help breaking down Epics into issues, issues into Sub-Tasks.
2. Once you approve the created breakdown or customize the suggestion, a new work item will be created in the appropriate hierarchy.
a. AI automation
b. Natural language to JQL (an interesting functionality to watchout for)
c. Generative AI in the editor
d. AI Summaries (coming soon)
LIST VIEW FOR EVERY JIRA PROJECT :
1. Each team have their own way to visualize and organize work as per their need and context. List view of Project provides a way to manage work for all the teams easier and faster.
2. Helps all the team including those from marketing and operations handle their work better in Jira (rather than doing it in a spreadsheet).
3. In-line editing helps in managing backlogs effectively.
4. Bulk edits can be made in the list view.

5. A custom field can be created in the in-line view and then use it immediately in the list view.
SHARED RELEASE DATES IN CALENDARS :
1. Business projects can be viewed as calendars with issues arranged by due-dates.
2. Release dates from software projects can now be surfaced in corresponding business projects helps in keeping everyone aligned.
(Calendars are coming to software projects soon.)
INCREASED VISIBILITY FOR BETTER DECISION MAKING :
1. Plans let you combine issues from different boards, projects and filters to create an all encompassing view that spans multiple teams.
2. Everyone with a team, from Leaders to program managers to team members will be able to estimate release dates for cross-team projects and do other things like answer staffing and resource questions or map out yearly goals in a single view.
ASYNC COLLABORATION WITH CONFLUENCE & LOOM :
1. Jira's collaboration with Confluence and Loom makes it a great tool to collaborate asynchronously giving teams an effective real-time work experience.
2. With a single click convert your top-voted ideas that were brainstormed on Confluence board into Jira issues.
3. Convert the entire whiteboard into a confluence page.
4. Smart links make it easier to ember rich Loom videos into Jira enabling teams to critical updates, ideas and decision in the context of work itself.
5. Figma integration
6. Automation helps teams set up no-code rules to keep themselves in sync.
