New Insights I Wireless Network Testing

Ensuring market leadership in the 5G ecosystem requires staying up to date with the newest developments in the field. We are here to provide you with information on the latest news and insights about Keysight's Nemo wireless network testing and analytics solutions. In this issue, you will learn, for example, when it is logical to perform one-way measurements, and how automation can help save on testing costs while providing high-quality service to subscribers. Also, read about the transformation our post-processing tool, Nemo Analyze, has undergone to ensure even more extensive performance capabilities in the future.

Enhanced post-processing with Nemo Analyze 10

Our powerful post-processing tool, Nemo?Analyze 10, has gone through a major update?where we replaced the previous database engine with a PostgreSQL database engine. The proven architecture, robust feature set, and extensibility of the new database will enable us to develop new features and performance improvements, such as concurrent data uploads and powerful automation capabilities, especially for enterprise use and for other large-scale environments. Nemo Analyze 10 integrates perfectly into the Nemo measurement tools portfolio and supports full end-to-end automation capabilities, including use cases varying from Nemo Cloud controlled field test automation, reporting, and remote monitoring to large benchmarking campaigns.

Eero Pulkkinen, Senior Product Manager, Nemo Analyze:

"Nemo Analyze's workbooks and report templates help
you analyze and compare key performance indicators (KPIs) from
different operators, technologies, and time frames and visualize the
results. What is neat about Nemo Analyze, it enables the
creation of custom KPIs and analysis tasks with KPI Workbench,
a graphical flowchart-based scripting engine. Custom report templates
can be easily created with Spreadsheet Report Designer."

White Paper: One-Way QoS Measurements in Private and Public Mobile Networks

Active testing with test protocols that produce synthetic traffic is useful, for example, in machine-to-machine and industrial use cases, with services where active testing with real apps is impractical, and in general when the focus is on the network’s ability to maintain quality of service (QoS) rather than on a complete end-to-end chain of communication and the resulting quality of experience (QoE). Since real traffic is one-way, it is logical that QoS testing also follows a one-way approach.?Keysight’s?Hawkeye?supports one-way measurements and it can be used as a standalone QoS measurement solution or together with?Nemo?measurement tools for private and public networks.

The Eternal Dilemma: How to Save in Testing Costs While Providing High-Quality Service to Subscribers?

The majority of expenses associated with traditional field testing comes from the test vehicle, the driver, and the in-car technician. However, by deploying unattended?Keysight's?Nemo?Active Probes?in fixed locations and utilizing existing transportation fleets, significant cost savings can be achieved. Automation allows for efficient resource allocation as technically skilled personnel can concentrate on problem-solving and network development tasks remotely instead of spending time in the field. This results in a 20% reduction in the time spent on network testing and an impressive 80% decrease in manual field testing work.

Let's talk about roaming testing next.

Ensure Quality of Service Home and Abroad with Automated?Roaming Testing

Mobile network subscribers have high expectations for consistent quality of service, regardless of their location. It is essential for mobile operators to ensure that their subscribers receive the expected level of service even when they travel abroad. Operators also need to perform inbound roaming testing to make sure that they are offering the best possible service to visitors in their network. A testing solution for inbound roaming needs to provide testing infrastructure to run roaming tests effectively and in a fully remote-controlled manner. To achieve this, maximum automation in test execution is needed.???

Automation brings significant value in situations where an operator has dozens of test units and all units must run test sequences against each other. In such cases, we are easily talking about more than 1000 individual test cases. Test sequences are typically executed as a one-time test cycle or run periodically according to a pre-scheduled plan. However, with large test fleets, configuring test cases manually is not feasible, and all testing must be fully remotely controlled.

Activate, Manage, and Switch Between Multiple eSIMS

The ability to remotely change SIM card/subscription in Keysight's field test probes opens new possibilities for efficient test-as-a-service across all mobile network operators within a country. This feature is particularly useful for roaming testing, enabling remote activation, management, and switching between multiple eSIMs, thus making testing faster and more flexible than ever before.?

With Nemo Active Probes, you can ensure 24/7 operational network service and high QoE for your customers in their home networks and when?roaming in another operator's network.
