NEW: IDEA-Focused Opportunities to Earn Gold Seal Credits with VRCA!

Happy New Year from VRCA Workforce Development! To help you get a head start on achieving your 2025 professional development goals, we're pleased to offer several new opportunities to earn Gold Seal credits with us this year. Keep reading to find out how you can start earning credits through our upcoming courses focused on Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA).


Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) Fundamentals Training

Course start date: January 20, 2025

Course delivery format: Self-paced, online, 20 hours

This course is scheduled to run from January 20 - February 16. Class times are to be confirmed but are tentatively scheduled every Monday at 11am.

Gold Seal Credits:?10

In partnership with the 加拿大阿尔伯塔大学 , the Rick Hansen Foundation is bringing the Fundamentals of Accessibility to the VRCA with a NEW COHORT of classes! Enhance your knowledge and application of Universal Design and meaningful accessibility through case studies. Learners will also be introduced to Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification? (RHFAC), a?rating and recognition program that measures the meaningful accessibility of a?site. There are no prerequisites to take this course. Join us on the journey towards an accessible world for people of all ages and abilities.

Inclusive Leadership in Construction and Trades - in partnership with Vancouver Community College (VCC)

Course start date:?February 18, 2025

Course delivery format: Self-paced, hybrid online and optional classroom, 30 hours

Gold Seal Credits: 10

This micro-credential introduces participants to the construction trades sector, focusing on the essential principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). Participants will learn to value the varied backgrounds and perspectives that team members bring to the job site and develop skills to identify and mitigate biases that can affect team performance. Through self-reflection and the examination of real-world examples and EDI initiatives, participants will gain the tools necessary to lead by example and cultivate a culture of belonging and allyship. This course combines face-to-face and online learning in a blended model.
