New Hair, New Me.
If you’ve met me at cannabis industry events before, there’s a good chance you’ve seen my signature silver high fade—a bold look that helped me stand out but also, unintentionally, made me blend in. Over the years, I’ve often been mistaken for Wendy Campbell, a wonderful woman in our industry with a similar hairstyle. While flattering, it’s also been a reminder that hair can sometimes define—or even limit—how people see you.
I’ve been dabbling in wig wearing for about 5 years now. You can see the evolution on my Instagram, but for the more professional environments, I’ve always opted for my original hair. I’ve done it to keep my “personal brand” consistent with the intention of being recognizable. But that’s not so important to me anymore.
This is my way of telling you that I plan to wear at least three wigs during the 48 hours I will be in Vegas this week. if you don’t recognize me, I will be sure to reintroduce myself.
I’m coming to Vegas to support Wu Russell who is up for an Emjay for Content Creator of the Year. It’s my 5th cannabis week in Vegas and it’s her first, we’ll be making content and talking to brands who want to work with Wu next year.
So if you see me in Vegas, definitely say hi if you recognize me and if you don’t that’s ok.
Why Wigs?
Like many women, relationship with my hair has always been complicated. Growing up, I struggled to style it. My mom kept it short because neither of us knew how to manage it. As an adult, I leaned into shorter and shorter cuts, coloring it regularly, and spending hours (and a small fortune) at the salon every month. Even with all that effort, I always wanted Barbie girl hair, alas it never grew out blond and plastic.
When I moved to Colorado, I stopped coloring my hair, embracing its natural silver tone—a choice I loved for its authenticity and ease. But over time, I realized I wanted something more. Not more effort or more maintenance, but more options to express myself. That’s when I started exploring wigs.
Wigs have given me the freedom to play with my style, change my look, and embrace different versions of myself. I’m not wearing wigs because of hair loss or medical reasons. My natural hair is healthy, silver, and beautiful—but wigs let me be creative in a way my natural hair never could.
Whether I’m in a sleek bob, flowing curls, or something bold and colorful, wigs help me feel confident, stylish, and, most importantly, like me. They’ve become an extension of my personality—an accessory as essential as my favorite shoes or earrings.
Wigs also represent freedom. Freedom from salon chairs, long coloring sessions, and the pressure to have perfect hair every day. They’re not just practical—they’re empowering.
Wigs Are for Everyone
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that wigs aren’t just for people with alopecia or undergoing chemotherapy, though they are incredible tools in those circumstances. Wigs can be for anyone.
If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and wished for a style that better reflected your personality, or if you’ve struggled with hair that never felt like “you,” wigs can offer a simple and transformative solution.
They’re also a lot easier (and faster) than many beauty routines. No blowouts. No three-hour salon visits. Just effortless style in minutes.
Wigged and Well: A New Chapter
This personal transformation is more than just a style change—it’s also a professional experiment. I recently launched Wigged and Well with Lauren Mundell, a social media project focused on wigs, wellness, and confidence for women 50+.
I help influencers grow their platforms and monetize their content, so I wanted to start from scratch myself. Wigged and Well is my case study—a way to show that it’s possible to build an authentic, engaging brand while embracing the whole of who you are.
This doesn’t mean I’m stepping away from cannabis; it means I’m broadening my perspective, exploring lifestyle content, and inviting others to join me. Speaking of which, check out this video on YouTube for more about me and wigs and follow @wiggedandwell on Insta and TikTok
I’d also love to hear your thoughts: Have you ever considered wigs as a style choice?
