The New Grand Central Madison Station Finally Opens

The New Grand Central Madison Station Finally Opens

Happy Saturday, LinkedIn friends! ??

In this weekend's issue of my ?? newsletter, I share a portion of my journal entry, recapping my first-ever visit to the newly opened Grand Central Madison.

The much anticipated Grand Central Madison concourse opened on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

As a result of this new train line opening, Long Island commuters can now cruise directly into Manhattan's east side in a New York Minute. Lol!

All kidding aside, many will cut 20 to 40 minutes from their commute to the Big Apple. ??

The new $11 billion station, which took over a decade to construct, is located 16 stories below Grand Central Terminal and stretches from 42nd to 47th streets along Madison Avenue.?

Since I happened to be in the area this weekend, you know me, I had to take a quick tour.

And, of course, because it's Saturday morning, I decided to bring you along. Let's go!?

One of the first things that grabbed my attention as I toured Grand Central Madison was the famous quotes about New York City on many of the walls in the concourse.?

So after walking ???? through Grand Central Terminal, I eventually made my way to the new Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) entrance at the Grand Central Madison concourse, which leads one down to the LIRR tracks.?

Much to my surprise, a female LIRR customer ambassador was standing nearby when I arrived at the escalators, and, as you might expect, I struck up a conversation with her.

We ended up having a friendly exchange, and I learned some fascinating things about the new terminal's design. Good stuff!

After the delightful exchange with the ambassador, I hopped on the escalator and took the MTA's longest escalators down to the track level, an interesting fact my new friend had just told me.?

It's worth mentioning that riding the escalator down takes approximately 90 seconds unless you're in a hurry, like the two people that flew by me, whom I am guessing rushed down in 30 seconds flat. Lol!

I recall being fully present, looking ?? up at the artwork as the escalator moved slowly down to the track area.?

Once I made it down the very long escalator ride, I hopped off and walked ????toward the tracks.

I continued making a few stops along the way to review more of the art and to take some of my signature pics! ??

Holy crap! ( Am I allowed to start my comment off with that?) ?? I sure hope so! Happy Sunday Morning Anthony Sledge! What a journey! I admit the escalators are daunting to me! It's Sunday morning and I can hear the rain as I sip my coffee after the tour with you! Wow! Such an amazing place! Thank you for the incredible tour!
