I saw a tweet by Michael Volpe OBE early this morning.
Michael is former CEO of Opera Holland Park, and was immersed in the Grenfell tragedy as it enveloped his friends and colleagues. In particular the story of Debbie Lamprell for whom he wrote a eulogy.
He knows what he is talking about. And he isn’t one of us “construction folk”.
So my thought was:
The Grenfell tragedy was in part caused by ignorant, overzealous politicians, who were poorly informed by ambitious incompetent lobbyists. Reinforced by negligent professionals and profiteers.
This can all be traced back to a change in government that instilled hope in my heart in 1997.
How do we stop it happening again?
